Out of Control: Obama Has Proposed 442 Tax Hikes Since Taking Office – With More on the Way

Just in time for Tax Day, a new study by Americans for Tax Reform has found that the Obama Administration has formally proposed 442 tax increases since 2009, not to mention another 20 tax increases that are part of Obamacare.

Grover Norquist, the president of Americans for Tax Reform, says “History tells us what Obama was able to do. This list reminds us of what Obama wanted to do.”

According to the analysis, the Obama Administration proposed 79 tax increases for the 2010 fiscal year, 52 tax increases for 2011, 47 tax increases for 2012, 34 tax increases for 2013, 137 tax increases for 2014, and 93 tax increases for 2015.

The report notes that the lowest amount of tax increase proposals came in 2012 for the 2013 fiscal year. After Obama was able to get re-elected, he immediately rolled out 137 tax increase proposals the very next year.

The report notes that there’s nothing Obama isn’t against taxing, from signing a tobacco tax bill in his first month in office to telling Men’s Health that “I actually think [taxing soda] is an idea that we should be exploring.”

Norquist adds “Presidents are judged by history based on what they did in power. But presidents can only enact laws when the Congress agrees. Thus a record forged by such compromise tells you what a president – limited by congress – did rather than what he wanted to do.

What’s amazing is that despite all of the proposed and enacted tax hikes, the economy still heavily relies on Chinese loans. The US is now nearly $17.6 trillion in debt and the size of the debt is only growing.

What do you think?  Haven’t we had enough tax hikes?  Isn’t the middle class already hurting enough?
